what really bothered me is that what sounds like a simple idea is twisted around and made so unnecessarily complicated that even people like me who play these games mainly for the story will become confused. Sounds promising, right? You would expect epic clashes between the two different worlds, exploration of two gigantic areas with an enormous amount of different places, towns, NPCs, travveling between the two worlds and lots of characters with interesting stories to tell, right? Well, you don't get any of that. Due to certain reasons, some inhabitants of Cocoon are supposed to be purged to Pulse, and in that progress our heroes arise because they are somehow connected with the purge. The premise of the game sounds promising at first glimpse, a large, futuristic town (Cocoon) built to protect its citizens from the wild world (Pulse) that lies beneath. Millions of things have been sad about this game, and I have to agree with anyone who says this game does not feel like Final Fantasy game at all. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I would probably rate it as a 9.5, but hey, some put 0s and 1s so I wanted to raise the user score. Sure, some things can be improved, some towns and quest can be added, but I, for one, cannot complain, as this game exceeded my expectations and I can't wait for its sequel. In contrast, FFXIII is brilliantly developed, as characters and story is concerned. Whereas FFXII gave you the freedom you 'need', tons of quests, it offered, IMO, the weakest story and character development of the series. I found that FFXIII is the oppossite of FFXII. For those who like to compare FFXIII to other FFS just remember how great were FFVIII & FFVII, but how easy they were as well. Every role is vital, and strategies are key for some battles. In Final Fantasy XIII you will find everything a game should have: Great story, well-developed and compelling characters, stunning enviroments, one of the best musical scores of the series, entertaining battle system, and DIFFICULTY.
